Ulysses Moore by Pierdomenico Baccalario is a book series with the plot centered on the fictional village of Kilmore Cove and Doors of Time. The genre of the book is adventure-fantasy. There are 18 books in Ulysses Moore series book and the books are originally written in Italian. I happened to read the translated version, I remember how frustating it was waiting for the translated version of the next book.
Unluckily for me, I only got the chance to read 7 books out of 18 books in total. Half part of me wish to continue but it is difficult to find the other books especially I’m looking for the translated version.
I first read this book when I was still on elementary school. I remember I was having a great time reading these books with my older sister, it’s like our cute little book date. When I first saw the book physically I already in love with the cover and later to found out the book provided the map too, little me was so so in love.
The reading process was actually so fun, the book succeeded on bringing along me as the reader throughout the adventure. It felt like I was also there, I was also part of the team. The adventure started as the travelers were continually trying to protect the “Doors of Time”. The Doors of Time lead to a distant time and space specific to that door and it can only be reopened when all of the travelers who passed through it return and to open the door it required a specific key. It made me feel it’s also my responsibility to protect the doors and the key from the evil travelers.
For someone who actually not a big fan of fiction like me, I think the books are doing great job on handling the fiction aspect. It doesn’t feel like the books are overexaggerating anything. There are fair distribution of fiction and the reality-based aspect.
I think the book series would sell like a hot cake today because the main theme of the books are about time-traveling and today’s society currently obsessed with time-traveling and multiverse theories.
Well, if you watched “Locke & Key” on Netflix somehow the series reminds me of this book series.
I gave the books 5 stars and still wishing to continue reading the book but like I said before it’s kinda tough to find the books (or perhaps I just haven’t tried enough).
